Bonjour, gorgeous people!

Mr Robot and I are in Paris and it is wonderful. We first came about 15 years ago when we didn't have two pennies to rub together and said we'd like to come back when we could spend a bit more. Though actually, all we've spent on so far is a six-day museum pass (worth getting if you're non-EU citizen or over 26 as it gets you in loads of places and you can bypass a lot of the queues too) and food and drink.

I nearly wrote 'foof and drink' there. It's not that sort of trip!

Here's our hotel room. We're staying in a little 12-room place in the Marais, the converted Presbytery of the St Merri church, just round the back of the Pompidou centre. When we stayed here all those years ago it was very cheap. It isn't cheap any more, but it is lovely.
Yup, that's a flying buttress over the bed!
We've been to a few museums already, eaten lots of great food and have seen some lovely places. It's exhausting! I swear we'll need a holiday to recover from this holiday...
(Gisela, you were right about the weather and how warm it would be.)

  1. What a fabulous bedroom. Your dress looks lovely, too.
Glad to hear that Paris is treating you well. We must have shared weather on Saturday, temperatures in the 70s and glorious sunshine - back to rain today, though.
    Have fun! xxx

    1. We had great weather most of the week - just one drizzly day. It was super!

  2. "Six day museum pass."
I got butterflies in my stomach as I read those four happy words.

Beautiful print on your dress too.

You're always welcome here if you need to rest up after your holiday (no interesting architectural elements in the bedroom, but there's terrifying 70's kitsch on the walls).

Glad to hear you're having a good trip.

    1. The museum passes are great value. E42 for two days, E56 for four and E69 for six. The Louvre is the most expensive place we went into, at 18 Euros, so it could be argued that there's little point in getting a two-day pass BUT in a lot of places there's also a special (shorter!) queue for ticket holders, and at places like the Louvre it can save masses of time. I'm pretty sure we got our money's worth out of the pass, even though the Musee d'Orsay was closed because of a strike so we kept wasting time trudging over there to be turned away!

(If you can get Danny to Paris before he's 18, he'll get into most places for free...)

  4. My dear darling friend,
You positively glow in this image you've shared. I can see Paris is doing you good. I have it on my "to go list". :)
...and is it not nice knowing that both of us are away from home?! (OK, mine is more business related, but I think I'll manage to squeeze in some walking around Brussels)

    1. Paris is definitely worth going to! We did loads in our week there, and we could have spent another week in the city without doing the same thing twice.

I've never been to Brussels, but your Instagram photos made it look amazing.

    1. It's a funny little hotel, but we like it - the location is perfect. I prefer quirky hotels, couldn't be doing with a bland modern four-star that could be anywhere on earth.

    1. We took loads of photos in the Musee Arts et Metiers because the things there made us think of all our steampunk chums! Though we mainly went there to see Foucault's pendulum.

  11. That is certainly unusual to have those buttresses in the boudoir! You'd need very large handcuffs to make use of them. I don't why that was my first thought?!

I have to say the humour in your recent posts has had me giggling away, from the thought of the Queen seeing how many hats she could cram on her head whilst drinking gin, to 'foof and wine'!!

I hope you had a magnifique time! xx

    1. A time TRES MAGNIFIQUE. And knackering. I honestly couldn't have coped with another week; we walked everywhere and by the time we left my hips and back were really protesting.
