|Grab a cuppa, I'm rambling...|
First there's this amazing 1960s ensemble from House of Foxy. Look at it! That dress could not be more me in many ways – tweed, short-sleeved, perfect for popping brooches on. But it's £165. Owww. And the colour isn't exactly my colour, and I do worry that it's got too much of a waist for me. (Don't start me on my musings over shapewear; I'm considering getting a waist cincher to wear under certain garments 'cos the gym isn't helping in that department. My body confidence is pretty low right now.) £165 is a lot of money to spend on something that's almost perfect. So I'm probably just going to keep staring at it, and kick myself when it's out of stock in my size. If they bring the same style out in green or blue, I won't be able to hand my money over fast enough.
On the other hand I probably am going to buy this Seamstress dress from Seasalt because it'll be great for my trip to Spain later this summer. I love the print, which really reminds me of jazz age prints. I prefer straight shapes to fuller-skirted ones, but the cut of that one will at least hide my bowling-ball gut. Dress for the body you've got, not the body you want...
I did troll round the sales looking for shoes, but didn't come up with anything. (I even tried going back to Bath's branch of Hotter, but the staff there are rubbish.) I guess I'll wait till the autumn to see what's available then; Kelly mentioned that Solovair are bringing out a ladies' range. If you haven't come across Solovair, they're from the factory that used to make Dt Martens before most production of Docs got outsourced to China. No, not cheap, but extremely high quality, and not made in a sweatshop. (A bit like that House of Foxy dress, then. I think I'll go and stare at that some more. Doooo want...)
Got any WANTS right now?
