Hoorah for July

A tabby cat in front of a fuchsia bush
Thanks for your nice comments to my last post. Mum is loads better, and is now out of Critical Care, though she's still in hospital on a regular ward as she still needs an oxygen mask. It was good to go to Norfolk to see her, and to see she's recovering. Her chap, Brian, is taking good care of the house as well as the farm, so she can relax and get well. As she's a keen Harry potter fan I bought her a Harry Potter charm bracelet and three charms - the Hogwarts letter, the sorting hat, and a Gryffindor house badge. Gryffindor is her favourite house, and I reckon she belongs there.

Both cats repaid our absence by losing their collars as soon as we came home. Ziggy has a beige thing instead of his nice polkadot one seen in the photo (taken shortly before he got all the way up on the roof and started messing around on next-door's chimney pots), and Pippin has a blue camouflage one that doesn't suit her at all. I'm hoping for a nice wander round the chazzas this weekend, but will have to fit in a trip to the pet shop to find more appropriate collars for the little beasts.

    1. Yes. If they'd waited till morning to call the doctor, she probably wouldn't have made it :-( Pete's mum died of pneumonia too, it's absolutely lethal for older people.

  2. I'm so glad to hear your mother is doing better.

Have you looked on etsy for cat collars? There are people making seriously cute stuff that's miles better than the cheaply made ones in pet stores. Just a thought.

    1. I'm grateful for the NHS, that's for sure! I dread to think what a week in Critical Care would cost in the US.

Ah, good thought on the collars! I hadn't thought of that, but hopefully someone is making them with the easy-release clip (so they come undone if the cat catches them on anything).

    1. He's horrifically photogenic. He's a bit funny-looking in real life*, all long legs and enormous eyes, but he photographs like a dream. A lot like a human model, I guess.

*Pete will tell me off for saying that, he thinks his boy is absolutely gorgeous!

  4. Glad to hear your Mum's on the mend. Love that photo of Ziggy. Shame about the polka dot collar. Hopefully you'll be able to find an equally cute replacement ... xxx

  7. I'm so pleased to hear that your lovely mum's on the mend, what a scare for you all!
Ziggy is an absolute beauty. Do you think he's seen your mum's Harry Potter bracelet and wants one for himself, hence accidentally on purpose losing his collar? Naughty kitten! xxx

  8. So pleased to hear this about Mum of Mim, such a relief for you!

Our cat Jessica lost her collar once, we found it again after our car had its MOT, it was on top of the engine ... we suspect she was attempting to tamper with the car ;)
