Hola from Segovia!

Just a few snapshots for you from lovely Segovia, our first leg of Big Goddaughter's 18th birthday trip. Yup, it was very rainy, with dramatic skies, when we arrived.

We're all having a wonderful time so far. On our first night we watched the Real Madrid/Atletico Madrid match (Champions' League final) in a local bar, which was ace. BG is a football referee anyhow, so really got into it.
Annoyingly, the castle is covered in scaffolding. It's still lovely inside, though.

Segovia is famous for its roast meat, so yesterday we had a monster Sunday lunch of roast suckling pig. BG was also delighted to discover tapas; Segovian bar owners pride themselves on their bar snacks, and you get a free tapa with every drink. We've done so much walking, we're sure to burn it all off.

(I nicked that photo from Mr Robot - his photos are so much better than mine!)

Segovia is quite a small, quiet place, and most museums are shut on Mondays, which is annoying. Tomorrow morning we head down to Toledo, which is much bigger, and we will be spoilt for choice of things to see and do.

I'm having trouble replying to comments, by the way (bloody iPhone!) but I can see them.

  1. Looks amazing, Mim. That sky, really atmospheric and brooding. Did you get their decorator's number? Think that he would do my ceilings too? The tapas looks lovely. Have a fabbie time in Toledo. Xx

    1. Those mudejar ceilings are fab. The best will come right at the end of the trip - there's an incredible 'bees' nest' one in the Alhambra in Granada.

    1. No :-( I contacted both the police and the tourist office, no joy. But it was several years old, so perhaps this is fate's way of telling me to buy a new one. I'll probably get another Fuji.

  7. How fabulous! That last photo put a mile wide smile on my face. What trip isn't enhanced by the presence of a cute toy robot to join on, and savour, the gorgeous views with?
