State of the Mim

TL;DR – I've had a bug, and then a pig of a print deadline, hence the silence.

I'd been congratulating myself on not getting ill this winter, so of course I went down with something at the least convenient time imaginable, a few days before one of my magazines was going to press. There was no way I could go into work last Thursday or Friday, though. I tried going round the supermarket with Pete on the Saturday and that was enough for the weekend! It's frustrating because I'd decided to do more exercise and keep my back in good order, and had hit my 10,000-step target two days running earlier in the week, and the virus put a stop to that.

So, what did I do while poorly? I was stuck on the sofa, so watched an old movie (Dick Tracy Returns, from 1938) and a bit of really daft telly (Riverdale, modern, trés trashy), knitted a bit of my 1960s cardi/jacket thing and played some games. One, Call Of Cthulhu, is set in the 1920s, but I'm not sure it's one readers of this blog would enjoy. I'm also well stuck into a vintage crime novel so will review that for you at some point.

I'm still a bit snuffly now but had to get into work on Monday to get my mag to press. It all went on time, so that's good! I thought I was going to have to work late and miss the first episode of Sewing Bee, but luckily I didn't need to in the end. It's such a happy show.

Anyway, I hope you've been having fun, and that your Valentine was someone who looks at you the way Pippin looks at Overcooked 2...

  1. Oh dear, sorry to hear that you succumbed to the lurgy and very glad you managed to hit the deadline.
    Look at Pippin!
Wasn't the Sewing Bee great? Loving Joe Lycett with his Barry M nails are the new presenter and that winning jumpsuit made me weak at the knees. x

    1. That jumpsuit was absolutely amazing.

I was sad to see La Winkleman go, but Joe Lycett seems a nice chap. Patrick's my favourite one of the presenters.

  2. Oh, poor Mim. It's never fun to get a bug, but especially not at such an inconvenient time. Glad to hear you didn't have to miss Sewing Bee. It might sound shallow, but after a long and stressful day, I can look forward to a happy show on TV. xxx

    1. Yes, and the UK's a particularly gloomy place right now. We need all the TV sunshine we can get!

  3. Sorry to hear you've not been well, Mim. There's a lot of it about! I am looking forward to watching Sewing Bee this weekend as I've recorded it.

Pippin seems deeply immersed in what's on the screen...

Have a great, or at least a better weekend.

    1. I'm not sure what, if anything Pippin can see that close up, though we do speculate that her crossed eyes mean she's got better near vision than most cats.

  4. Glad to hear you are on the mend!
I <3 hectic cooking games as much as Pippin does!

    1. Pete hates that game so I can only play it when he's not around! He's keener on me playing the ones that have stories he can listen to.

  5. Glad to hear you're getting over being sick, and that print day went well. We've been snowed in twice this past week, and I should have used that time to do something practical, I didn't. Sometimes we just need down-time.

    1. Yes, down-time is good. I'm a terrible slacker around the house though. Books and games are so much more interesting.

  6. Sorry to hear you have been poorly I hope you are much better now. I've been watching the sewing bee for the first time really. I had to tune in after my Mother being so hilariously disparaging about some of the things they did on
the last series (she was a seamstress) I feel obliged to love Patrick because he did his MBA at our school!
