Snif
Well, 2015 has proved itself to be indescribably crap. I might not post for a week or two as our pusscat, Boycie, who we knew was a bit elderly and frail, now has kidney failure, so we're planning to give her lots and lots of love (and salmon, and her favourite Chinese chicken balls – meat part only) for the next couple of days before we say goodbye to her. Coming in the same year as losing my mother-in-law, it's all a bit sad in the House of Robots and we'd quite like the unhappy stuff to stop.
Boycie couldn't care less about vintage – she did wreck the satin skirt on a 1980s dress I'd owned from new, but I think that was general naughtiness rather than an aesthetic judgement on her part. And, as you can see here, she did take time out from her busy schedule to assess the midcentury dresses I was planning to wear at Vintage Nostalgia earlier this year. (Note: cotton dresses are safer around cats than satin ones!)
I love my kitty, and I am going to miss her terribly.

Aah. I'm so sorry - my cat died this year too. Boycie looks like a tortoisehell - they are the best.
ReplyDeleteI am so, so sad to hear about your lovely furry friend. Cats are the absolute best and it is heartbreaking when they go. Sending you all at the House of Robot some very big hugs and I am sure that she will be so happy to have had you and Mr Robot as her companions. Xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry about your cat, it is just totally rubbish when it is time for them to go. Hoping the last third of 2015 sorts itself out for you and gives up some happier times.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad, I'm sorry to hear about her. My poor puss died this year, I still miss him. I hope it goes as well as it can.

ReplyDeleteLots of love to you all, know how hard it all is sending you a hug and thinking of you at such a sad time.
Some years are just crap and I hope you've now had all 2015 had to throw at you. Thinking about you this weekend for what its worth x
ReplyDeleteAhh, that's sad, our beloved kitties have a special place in our hearts and it hurts like a bugger when they go. Boycie is a tortie then - naughty torties are special!
ReplyDeleteTake care, spoil her rotten, and know that you gave her a lovely life. xxxx
I'm so sorry, you really have had an awful year. Being able to give her a good send-off she can enjoy is I'm sure, comforting for you as well.
ReplyDeleteDarling Mim,
ReplyDeleteThe pain, as strong as it may be now, reminds you of how much you cared for the lovely animal-friend. I feel the sorrow alongside you, since my wounds haven't healed yet.. as I've mentioned there's a shi**y side to living on the motorway: kitties lose lives more often.. but pain remains.
My darling have not even lived to see her first birthday; it was to be this month. I have her brother to outlive her.. and he greets me happily every time I come to my mom's house.
I am so proud of you for staying with your friend till the end. You know, not many humans stay with their "furry-friends" for that last moments. I believe that you should, you don't want to leave the poor beast alone, scared.. in her last breathing minutes. No. I stayed. You stayed.
That makes you grand.
Again: I'm proud of you.
Now, for the following days (weeks..) brave it out. Breathe, take walks... try to handle yourself.. you are allowed to grieve.
Many supporting hugs
Marija
I'm so sad to read this and right on the day my Mum is taking her 20 year old puss cat to the vet for the last time. Life bloody sucks sometimes. x x
ReplyDeleteSending you loads of love and hugs. We lost Ginger Alan a fortnight ago, we'd only known him a year but its still left a huge hole in our lives. xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI really do feel for you, I lost my best beloved ever cat, in a lifetime of cat keeping, two years ago to kidney disease...and a useless, incompetent vet who was a disgrace to her profession...and my lovely Siamese this March to the kidney problems too, and neither were exactly old.
ReplyDeleteIt is unbelievably hellish and foul. But she was loved, she had a great life with you, you have done right by her and there is nothing to reproach yourself with.
There's no point in pretending this will not hurt, terribly, and it will do for quite a long time, you just have to be kind to yourself as you go.
Take care and all the best.xx
Oh Mim, from the bottom of my heart, I am truly sorry that you've having such a tough year and that your precious kitty is suffering. My heart, thoughts, and comforting vibes are with you during this challenging time (and I am always here if you need someone to talk to about anything).
ReplyDeleteEndless hugs,
♥ Jessica
