Whole lotta something going on…

Do you have a busy time of year? I've been fairly inactive for a couple of months, but have realised that my Busy Time is about to kick off. May is always busy for me, but this year the fun looks like beginning even earlier. Next Monday my friend Judy Darley is launching her book, Remember Me to the Bees, at The Birdcage in Bristol. The Birdcage is a cafe/vintage shop, and I've never been there before. Mr Robot is photographing the launch, so I hope to have some nice pictures for you.

After that I've got a steampunk birthday tea party, a trip back to Norfolk, a couple of nights on Burgh Island... and that's just April. May brings the BathVA vintage fair, as part of Bath in Fashion week, and the Vintage Nostalgia show, then June has Brass Brunel (the Bristol steampunk weekender) and a Gatsby-themed party. That's a whole lot of outfits to plan and packing to do! I've only really thought about Burgh Island, but some of the outfits will do double duty there and for the Gatsby party.

Honestly, it'll be a relief when July rolls round... Until I get bored! Have you got anything exciting planned in the next couple of months?

  1. sounds good....how great to have all those vintage lovelies to attend.
There is a vintage clothing show around the corner from me this w/e.....I used to show and sell there but the vendor fee ( $350 + help + stock+ a helluva load of work) just did not make sense for me. Instead I am hoping to get back to my regular Farmers Market soon...( reasonable rate, half day, and I can manage on my own)
There is also a huge outdoor antique show in the country at the end of May , the very large turn out makes it worthwhile.

    1. Ow, I had no idea stalls could be so expensive. We have quite a few vintage markets in this area. I think the BathVA fair will be akin to the outdoor antique show in that it attracts enthusiastic buyers who will be keen to spend money, and that's why it gets the best stalls.

  2. Well aren't you the busy bee! I love having things to look forward to but then when it comes to it I just want to have quiet time at home!

    1. Yes, Pete's like that! I try not to drag him out to more than one thing a fortnight, and even then it all gets a bit much for him. I'm just baffled as to why they all seem to bunch up like that.

  3. I hope you have the most enormous fun. Shall look into the book.
Alas, I live in the most God awful, boring place, I could scream with it, so no excitement here!

    1. Ha, it's not *that* interesting here, I'm having to travel for a lot of things. I do find myself eyeing up all the events in London longingly... and whenever i'm in London, nothing's going on!

  4. Sounds like there are some lovely, exciting things coming your way! I always think it is funny how nothing much happens for ages and then there is a period that is almost too busy. April and May are pretty quiet for me so far, better get looking for exciting happenings!

  5. You certainly have all the fun stuff lined up! I think it will stay pretty quiet here - getting to grips with the new garden, enjoying life at a slower pace. I still feel like I'm catching up with myself, so am quite glad there are no mad plans afoot! P x

    1. The steampunk tea party is at the Angel in Abergavenny; I think that's your neck of the woods.
