Happy 2026!
Yeah, yeah, January's nearly over. STILL. This blog isn't dead. I admit, I have been seriously considering taking it down, but that feels wrong somehow. It feels more wrong in an era of AI slop and short-form remote communication. So for now the blog stays up, and I am going to make time to read other people's blogs, even if it means scheduling it in.
(Also, for the note of any people coming here to make comments shilling things, comments are moderated. So even if I'm rubbish at posting, you're still not going to fill up the comments with spam while I'm not paying attention.)
Returning to the subject of 'not dead', last September I mentioned that I was finally being treated for my thyroid but had got fat. Well, my doctor started flapping all over the place about some of my blood test results and I had a scary few months of blood tests every three weeks or so in the run up to Christmas. I started to feel as though all my giblets were on their way out, but this month have received notice that it's just fatty liver. So I am dieting, I am exercising more often, I have drastically reduced my alcohol intake and I am drinking a cup of black coffee a day because it's antifibrotic. The aim is to lose some suet before it turns into fibrosis. Not sure if it'll work, but the doctor says it's the right thing to do.
Other than that, life has been pretty quiet. I did get to see one of my favourite bands, The Fields Of The Nephilim again. I first saw them in 1990, at the age of 16. The T-shirt I got at that gig is at the top of this post, alongside the one I got at the most recent gig.
Sewing is going well. It's been skewing more gothy of late, but I'm planning more Jazz Age pyjama looks for summer. Hopefully the two styles will collide in interesting ways. But hey, if I wind up looking like a pile of random fabric, at least it'll be nice fabric.
